We like to be transparent about what we use in our formulas to make them safe, effective and exactly what you want in your beauty wellness routine. One of the superpower ingredients that you will see listed in our ultra hydrating conditioner is Baobab Seed Extract a.k.a. Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata Seed Extract.

As you might have guessed, it comes from the Baobab Tree which sounds exotic because it is—photographer Beth Moon captures it beautifully here. There are nine species in the world which have been found in Africa, Australia and the Middle East. Baobab trees can grow up to 100 feet and some have lived for more than 2500 years which is probably why it’s often referred to as the “Tree of Life” and/or “Wooden Elephant.”  Not only are they an important source of food, water, and shelter for hundreds of animals; but they grow edible fruit and its pulp has six times more vitamin C than oranges.

There are many more important qualities listed here, but what you probably want to know is why did we make it a key ingredient in our conditioner?

First, it’s chock full of essential vitamins like A, C, D and E—so it provides a deep conditioning for our scalp and hair. It absorbs easily without leaving a greasy residue (bonus!) and is naturally moisturizing as it contains omega fatty acids 3, 6 and 9; which helps improve and restore a dry, itchy scalp. It’s also rich in linoleic acid—a water retention agent that seals in the moisture in hair. Additionally, Baobab seed extract provides protection against and recovery from UV-damage, heat styling and free radicals. After using our hydrating conditioner, you can expect soft, smooth and more manageable hair with improved strength and elasticity.

Lastly, our supplier is ECOCERT Verified, and COSMOS approved; which means that they have been independently inspected to meet a high standard of care for human health and the environment. You can feel reassured in knowing that the Baobab seed extract used in our conditioner has been obtained sustainably and processed with care.

Our next ingredient highlight is coming soon but, in the meantime, you can read all about our clean and effective ingredients here.
